Sussex County students want to be challenged academically.

Each year, fewer than 25 percent of Sussex County public high school seniors go on to a four-year university.

In 2010, concerned parents began meeting to address this issue. By 2012, a plan was formed to expand Sussex County’s only charter school — the award-winning Sussex Academy of Arts and Sciences for grades 6-8 — into a new, combined middle and high school.

In 2013, the re-named Sussex Academy purchased and began to expand a school facility in Georgetown, Delaware to accommodate 770 students by 2016.

The campaign for Sussex Academy – Phase 1

With the support of more than 175 individual, business and foundation donors, over $13.7 million was raised during Phase 1, including $6.25 million borrowed from USDA, to acquire and build-out our new facility in Georgetown.

We did it. Thank you for helping us complete Phase 1, and for supporting us as we make Phase 2 a total success!
